Are you eating the right food according to Chinese food energy?

I often see patients with upset stomach from eating the wrong types of food - mainly cold and cool food. According to Chinese medicine Theory, food can be grouped differently based on energetic properties of Yin (cool, cold) Yang (warm, hot) and Neutral, which has less to do with actual temperature. Eating too much yin or yang food will break the balance of the body and cause adverse health effects. For example, water melon, cantaloupes, bananas are very cold and can cause stomachache, loose stools, bloating, flatulence. Chilly peppers, gingers and garlic are very hot and can make you feel overly warm, anxious and lead to constipation.

Most vegetables are cooling, while most spices are warming or hot.

A healthy combination of both cold and hot foods creates an internal balance. Checkout the food chart.
