Identify the cause of the disease is very important in Chinese medicine practice because we can then prevent it from happening again.
Chinese medicine holds that the human being is a mini-universe, so everything we see happening in nature can and does also happen within a person. Normally the body adjusts itself to the environment, there is a state of harmony between the human body and the external environment. If the external influences exceed the ability of the body's self-adjustment, disharmony occurs and disease will develop.
There are many causes of disease in Chinese medicine. There are six evils, seven emotions, improper diet, overstrain, lack of exercise, trauma, epidemic, as well as phlegm & dampness and blood stasis. Except for phlegm & dampness and blood stasis are pathological factors, all others are considered primary causes.
